Interactions with Turmeric
Although components of turmeric root have inhibited potently the cytochrome P450 enzyme system in rat liver (Oetari et al. 1996), there are no clinically significant drug interactions between this herb and conventional medications that are known to have been reported in the literature to date.
Indomethacin; Reserpine
Ethanol extracts of turmeric root (500 mg/kg) inhibited gastric secretion and protected gastroduodenal mucosa against injuries caused by drugs such as indomethacin (30 mg/kg po) and reserpine (5 mg/kg IM) in rats (Rafatullah et al. 1990).
